1. Choose a theme for your word search.

2. Write a list of 5-10 words that go with your theme.

3. Show your list to Mrs. Cummings to check spelling.

4. Type in the following Web site address: http://teachercreated.com/books/3449 (the address is on the smartboard).

5. Click on page 128, site 1.

6. Type in the title of your word search.

7. Type in the words for your search.

8. Print your word search.

Tangrams

Tangrams are ancient Chinese puzzles. A tangram begins with a square which is then cut into seven standard pieces. Each piece is called a tan. In creating a picture, all seven tans must be used; they must touch, but none may overlap.

When tangrams are used in storytelling the storyteller arranges the tans to show the shape of a character in the tale. As new characters or story elements are introduced, the puzzle pieces are rearranged to represent the new character or new element.

This fantastic round-trip voyage will take you all the way to Pluto and back again! You have been asked to find the answers to some interesting questions along the way. You will have to read to find the answers. Take your time reading about and exploring each planet. The pictures are amazing!

Choose 5 animals on the list. Scroll down to the Fun Facts and write and interesting fact about each animal.

After you have finished finding fun facts about 5 animals you make explore this site. You can stay on Animal Info and click on Animal Sounds Library or go to the Fun Zone and check out the Games.

• Draw your Dot - Do not use the shape tools to draw your dot; use the pencil or paintbrush, etc. instead
• Don't forget to sign your picture
• You can add a frame to your picture if you wish by drawing it around the edges

Take a Roller Coaster Ride/ Week 1

Begin your research at Amusement Park Physics. After reading the introduction, select the "roller coaster" link at the bottom of the page to learn how a coaster works and the difference between wooden and steel coasters.
